Horizontal Knockout Drum – Determining Vessel Length
Vessel length is based on liquid holding volume and residence time. The length is adjusted to achieve the necessary liquid holding volume to satisfy proper process control. This is usually considered to be the minimum amount of time for liquid surge. In general, the vessel length and diameter is sized to provide the required vapor space (velocity) plus liquid retention volume.
